About
UNBELIEVABLE BANK REPO OPPORTUNITY!!!!
Obtain a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME DEAL on this Grand Banks 42 being auctioned to the highest bidder with noreserve price! High bid owns this Grand Banks!
The owner was not able to keep up with his payments, so this Grand Banks was repossessed and it is now available for a FRACTION OF WHAT OTHER 42 Grand Banks have recently sold for!
THE GOOD: This Grand Banks 42 (hull number 724) has been sitting in FRESHWATER and boasts a very clean engine room. There are some great upgrades and features. There is a newer Westerbeke diesel generator with only 388 hours, new batteries, newer tanks, and host of other refreshed/ newer items in her engine room.
THE BAD: She is in need of cosmetic attention on the interior and exterior.
Being in the boat business, cosmetic needs are considered easy and worthwhile when compared to mechanical, structural, and operation needs. Generally, the cost difference in making a boat go cosmetically from a 6 to a 9 versus a 3 to a 9 is negligible. (The 6 still needs full buffing, upholstery, woodworking pretty much the same needs of a 3. Although the difference may be more dramatic.) Regardless of this statement, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS GRAND BANKS NEEDS TO HAVE HER COSMETICS RENEWED/ REFRESHED/ REDONE. I cannot stress this enough If her cosmetics presented her in pristine condition, she would be selling for $150,000++ like the others Her current cosmetics will require a good bit of attention to bring her back to pristine.
The exterior needs to be fully detailed, including a compound and wax. (Florida rates are about $15-$20/ per foot to have it done.) The gelcoat/ paint should shine up nicely again. ALL of the exterior woodwork needs to be sanded then either oiled or varnished. It currently has varnish that is peeling away. Most areas look like they will sand out and look great again, but it will take time and effort to get it done. The decks all need to be sanded smooth. When I opened a hatch and could see the deck thickness, it appears to be plenty of meat left for sanding. The exterior cushions need renewing. There is a bridge enclosure stowed on the bridge The blue canvas portion looks good, however, the soft glass needs to be removed and new soft glass stitched in place.
I am tellingpeople to expect an unattractive boat in person. Everyone's definition of a "pretty" boat and an "ugly" boat differ. To some, she will look better in the photos than she will in person. To others (primarily those who are experienced with boats), this Grand Banks may be a pleasant surprise.
All of the soft goods in the interior need renewing. This includes all of the mattresses, bedding, sofas, and window treatments. The headliner should be taken down and either replaced or painted fresh with Sem vinyl paint. Most of the woodwork appears to be in relatively serviceable (if not good) condition, but there, inevitably, will need to be spots for touch-ups. There are also a variety of little Mickey Mouse type of items to be attended to and replaced, such as drawer pulls, sink faucets, and knobs. The windlass was removed.
I was told that this Grand Banks was owned by an older couple that had their primaryresidence in southwest Florida. I was also told that this Grand Banks has been moored inTennessee more than the past decade. I wastold that the couple did not take her on many trips over the past few years. I suggest that the next owner do an annual servicing of theengines and be sure to have extra fuel filters handy.
Back to the good: This one is equipped with twin Ford Lehman diesel engines that are quite clean in appearance. She started right up during my visit. I let them run in her slip for over 20 minutes and both ran smoothly. One of the agents that was associated with the banks contractor ran her and stated that she did well. He did note vibration on one side and suspected the prop or shaft bearing. The engine hour meters read 2988. 4If this GB were at our marina, I figure that we would spend $12,000-$16,000 in refreshing her cosmetics, servicing her, and getting all of the little items set. That includes our contractors fees for upholstery, detailing, and woodworking. Someone doing the work on his or her own will likely be on the lower end of that spectrum, whereby somebody getting a marine contractor to do all the work will likely be at the upper end. As stated earlier, in our business, cosmetic refits are considered to be inexpensive in comparison to a major refit of mechanical and operational systems. The newer generator, alone, costs more to install new than we would likely be spending on the cosmetic renewals.
I performed a market search on Yachtworlds database of sold boats for 1978-1988 Grand Banks 42s that have sold since March 2015. There were 27 sales that appeared in the search. Of these, theaveragelisted price was $143,629 and theaveragesold price was $128,405. Many of those had notations after the sale price that the boats needed work and that the price was lowered to reflect the work needed. I will be happy to the pdf list for those that request it.
This is a rare opportunity to obtain a classic vessel at a bargain price. There is likely a significant amount of money to be made for those that are willing to embark. Again, we have priced this Grand Banks exceptionally low to sell it quickly on an AS-IS & WHERE-IS basis. Do keep in mind that once this Banks is sold, the chances of being able to find another at this deal will be nearly (if not completely) impossibl.
Please only bid if you have the means and desire to complete the purchase.
Please understand that I have done my best to represent the vessel as I notice it to be. This vessel will need attention and it is not a brand new yacht. In addition to what was readily apparent to me, it will also have flaws consistent with a used vessel of her age, both known and unknown. The buyer should expect to perform routine maintenance (which even goes for a 2 year old vessel) with this type of vessel and repairs based upon a surveyors recommendation. Please also keep in mind that a surveyors job is to find all the deficiencies that he can on a vessel. Any survey will be for the buyers benefit and will not constitute a price reduction based on findings.
Neither I, Aqueous, the financial institution, nor any other agents express or imply any guarantees or warranties whatsoever about this vessel (or any vessel). The description and photos do not represent any guarantees about the condition of the vessel or accuracy of any information. WE ENCOURAGE ALL BIDDERS TO DO THEIR OWN INSPECTIONS / OBSERVATIONS PRIOR TO PURCHASING. Buyers are welcome to hire a professional to inspect or survey the vessel prior to the purchasing.
Since this vessel is being sold outside of Florida, we are only required to collect sales tax to Florida residents wishing to move this Grand Banks to the State of Florida.
The buyer will receive clear and marketable title to this vessel.
Please feel free to call Rob with Aqueous Yachts at phone to further discuss this opportunity.
Keep the saying in mind on this one: "The yacht that you found today and will consider tomorrow is the same one that the other guy found yesterday and is considering today".

Questions
1600 $? What's wrong with it, that seems kinda odd, but I am interested in it, could you please send me some interior picture s thank you, sincerely, Michael Greene
She it's still available?
Would you please provide pictures of the interior? My husband and I are looking for a good trawler with which to do the great loop. As we are planning to do this after he is retired, this will give us time to necessary cosmetics to a boat. We want a boat with "good bones" and excellent mechanics. We think this may be what we are seeking.
She it's still available?
Would you please provide pictures of the interior?
I would like to view this boat some time on Wednesday 9th or Thursday the 10th of August. Would that be possible?
