In 2012, I purchased this 1990 Four Winns Boat. It was won in a raffle by an older gentlemen and it was too fast for him, so the boat was put in a barn for 20 years. In 2011, he hired a painter and the painter spotted the boat and asked if he would be interested in a trade - paint the house for the boat. They agreed.Six months later the painter put the boat on classifieds board and I purchased it in 2012. I have the chain of custody of the three owners along with the orginial price sticker and owners manual.
The engine is pretty much all orginial expect for what I have replaced/rebuilt.There is no hour meter. I wouldestimate it has between 100-200 hours on it, most of which I have put on thepast three seasons. I put a new water pump on it and rebuilt the carburator. New plugs, cap, roter and gel battery. Overall this motor is rock solid. As for the stern drive, I replaced the water pump on that as well and changed the oil each season.New stainless steel prop. Boat runs about 45 MPH with one or two people. With a full load, it runs about 40 MPG. The boat seats up to 8 people and pulls tubs or wake boarders with ease.
There are some items that are in need of repair.
1. The flooring on this boat is fiberglass on the interior sides where the seats are and down the middle is wood. The front part of the boat is all fiberglass. The wood portion of the floor (middle)needs to be replaced due to dry rot. Someone handy could probably do it themselves.
2. The driver seat is one year old and inlooksnew, but I have not replaced the passenger seat and it needs to be replaced as it is broken and not connected properly.
3. The boat does have a slow leak at the stern. If I am out on the lake for 4-8 hours, I usually turn on the bilge pump once an hour to pump out any water it took on. The stern drive rubber seals would need to be replaced to stop the leak completely and I am not handy enough to do it.
The trailer is in great condition with good tread on the tires. I replaced the bearings in 2012 and added the spare tire. LED lights on the back of the trailer.
Installed a brand new $300 Lowrance Depth and Fish Finder this year. Also tells you the water temperature.
The exterior of the boat is in excellent shape. At the dock, most people can't believe it is a 1990, because the gel coat is still bright and so is the interior fabric.
This has been a great boat for me and my family. I bought it as an entry level boat and to learn how to boat. After using it three years, I am going to upgrade to a larger boat. If you have questions, please let me know.
