1956 Feather Craft Vagabond II with title, completely rigged with
classic Kainer steering wheel. New and varnished marine plywood
floorboards, new transom with al plate inside (motor is jacked up for
performance) and Baltic fir plate outside. New center transom brace. New
steering hardware and cable. The boat was flipped upside down and the
bottom was straightened before rigging (the hook was removed from the
short 'afterplane'), there are no hooks or rockers. The boat comes with
the automatic bailer shown, but not with the Braille racing battery and
tank.1950s era Little Dude trailer (good tires, new trailer tongue, new
trailer jack, new lights and wiring, new spare tire, new bearing
buddies). This trailer was custom made for the Vagabond II, the flat
bottom rests in the at the transom on cradles that are transverse to the
trailer. Trailer has been used on an 8 hr. round trip to an AOMCI meet
as well as numerous round trips to and from Lake Houston to test and run
the boat locally.Reliable, beautiful and fast fresh-water (from Michigan) 1960 Scott 40.
New fuel lines, carbs were cleaned and the linkage for the 2 big single
barrel Carter N carbs was synchronized. New ignition wiring inside and
outside the flywheel, Johnson Stinger fuel pump, new condensers, and new
OMC key switch. Rebuilt gearcase: new impeller, new driveshaft bearing,
two new ball bearings, pinion and forward gear were replaced, new
seals. The Scott starts easily, idles well and pushes the rig a 32.5 mph
2-way GPS average with the bronze ski prop (not shown). The classic
motor uses surprisingly little fuel even at full throttle, and
especially at 2/3 throttle. It's a real pleasure to run or ride in this
rig, the Vagabond loves wake boarder wakes and other rough water! We ran
the rig about 3-4 hrs. at the fall 2015 Texas AOMCI meet. 3-blade 10x12
bronze AMC ski prop with new hub (this is the prop that we ran). Scott
control box, cables, and wiring harness. Evinrude oil is run with pump
93 octane gas at 50:1. We've put about 5 hrs. on the motor, compression
is 120 psi in both cylinders. No idea how many hrs. were on the motor
before we bought and restored it.
