1929 Vintage Mahogany Wooden Chris Craft 26' Sedan - Model 6 Very RareWe are selling our 1929 Chris Craft 26' Sedan. There are very few left in existence, possibly 4 or 5. This is an original sedan that has been restored to, as close as possible,Chris Craft's original specs.
The boat needs just a few things to finish it up. We believe the work that is still needed is:Seats are in place, but upholstry cushions are needed, wiring &the engine needs to be connected to the shaft & complete the wiring to the motor. The motor will fire & run, but we never hooked it up. There is an after-market, "Chris Craft like", 5 gauge panel, that looksvery close, but is not original. We do have the original gauges, they need to be restored. The floor shifter lever & steering also need to be connected. There is a new double planked bottom, with new framework & ribs. Hull sides are original wood, except for the top & bottom planks, that were replaced. Complete new decks, some of the original hardtop structure was saved & reused, the rest is all new construction.
The sedan cabin area has working "roll-up & down" windows; the front windshield folds out. The Landeau top has been replaced with all new material & looks great. There is a sliding top hatch& rear entry doors to enter the sedan cabin.
New linoleum flooring was installed over new plywood floor boards. The original hardware is at least 99% complete, re-chromed & installed on the boat. We know there is a clum key switch missing, but not much else. There are also 2 new gas tanks installed, built to match the originals that were removed. The motor is modern power, circa 1980's. Rebuilt Chris Craft conversion, Chevrolet 350 V-8.The boat is owned & was restored over the years, by Fred Scopinich, at The Hamptons Shipyards, in Long Island, NY. This is his personal boat. This is a very rare special boat, you probably will not see another one around. This is the boat for the wooden boat lover, who wants a rare piece of Chris Craft History.Once finished, this beauty will be an extremely valuable asset to any collection. We are selling the boat unfinished, due to other ongoing projects & the owners age. All in all, alot is not required to finish this rare boat. The boat is sold with a Bill-of-Sale only, as the original paperwork is long gone.Shipping is the buyers responsibility; we can assist with loading. The boat is sold "AS IS WHERE IS" condition. The boat is for sale locally & we reserve the right to stop the auction at any time.We urge you to come & inspect the boat, she is stored indoors at our shipyard, on Long Island, NY.
